A quick and dirty guide for assembling the Lenovo ThinkServer TS140

Three months ago I bought a Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 with no OS from Amazon to replace my old business laptop that I had been using for 10 years. One thing I found was that having never done more than plug things into the ports I was at a bit of a loss when it came to putting in the HDD and what came with the tower. So after about an hour of messing around I took it all apart and took pictures as I put it all back together so that I could make this quick little guide.

Unscrew the bolt on the back of the case above the fan.

Lay the down with the front facing right, and press down on the release button then slide the cover to the left.

Pull the drive caddy out by squeezing on the sides and pulling.  Then  place the front of the drive in the open end of the caddy and place the caddy tabs into the drive’s screw holes.

Tilt the drive down into the caddy and one side at a time place the remaining tabs into the screw holes.

Slide the caddy with the drive back into the slot you pulled it from and make sure that the drive interface is face outwards.

Plug the SATA and Power cables into the drive.  SATE and Power cables should be included with the case, if they are not you can buy them HERE.

Reverse Step#2 then Step#1 and your done!  If you did everything correctly you should have a working computer ready for your OS of choice.  By the way if your looking for a monitor or Speakers I’ve linked to them below, in fact I’m listing everything I used to build my system below.
