An open letter to Richland County Ohio

MansFAILed
As someone who has to drive into Richland County Ohio, and more specifically the city of Mansfield, I would like to educate the county engineers on how to take care of the roads when it snows.  First just let me say I am always shocked at how poor the roads in Mansfield are cleared during and after snow storms.  I see almost no roads cleared, and I really don’t think you know what road salt is.  Here’s a tip, if the weather forecast calls for snow, get the plow trucks out there BEFORE the roads are so covered in snow that cars can’t move.  And while those trucks are out there try laying down this new thing called salt, the rest of the state uses it and we really find it makes the roads safer to drive on.
Here is a link to the Ohio Department of Transportation contact page, I suggest you have your county engineer call ODOT and ask them about snow removal and how to use salt.
And while I’m at it, to the city of Mansfield, if your going to have one way roads that go up hill AND have multiple stop lights on that road, try plowing and salting that road before cars get stuck and spin their tires and are forced to turn around and go the wrong way on your one way road endangering not only the drive of the car but also other drivers on the road.  If you’d like an example of what I’m talking about, this is a major issue on North Mulberry Street, you need to plow and salt that road when it snows!
Seriously Richland County and Mansfield, get your act together, every other county and city I drive through has their roads cleaned or at least has trucks out cleaning the roads, but Richland County I’m shocked if I see one plow truck out, and that is a rare thing to see.
